Well, this was one incredible find!  A spectacular raw amethyst gemstone that has druzy vugs and crystals and openings.  What a unique piece.  I hardly know if I am able to part with it!

About Druzy
Sometimes tiny quartz crystals form within or on top of an stone when water carrying silica is forced into the stone's bed.  The word "druzy" refers to this fine layer of miniature crystals filling a cavity or coating a matrix.  Many times stones with druzy layerings are treated in such a way to magnify the beauty of the drusy.    Many people think of drusy in relation to geodes - but they also form on agates and other stones like brazilian shadow agates, chrysocolla, ocean jasper, botswana agate, amethyst and rhodochrosite - among many others.  The best thing about druzy - they are absolutely amazing girls!!
